Sharps rifles were a series of large bore single shot rifles that began with a design by Christian Sharps in 1848 that are renowned for long range accuracy. The rifle has become an icon of the Old West due to its use in a number of movies and books in the Western genre. Our reproduction is museum quality and replicates the Sharps rifle produced by the Sharps Rifle Manufacturing Company in Hartford, Connecticut. It was used in the Civil War by the U.S. Army Marksman, and was of greater accuracy than the more commonly issued muzzle-loading rifled muskets.

The replica exceeded my expectations. Finish, attention to detail, visually very authentic appearing.

The rifle was in fantastic condition when it arrived No sign of rubbing Minor odditie which I believe is a manufacturer flaw the front horn is not centered its leaning to the right but over fine quality For some reason my sharps rifle has a flowery scent which boggles me 9/10 I would recommend

Lacking sling swivels, very good copy of the original. The zinc polishes quite well with few pits.

      1859 Sharps Military Rifle

I purchased this rifle (along with a Henry) to use as a display piece in my "buffalo hunter" impression that I do at historical reenactments. I'm VERY please with the rifle. Nice fit and finish, beautiful wood, and a nice "heft" to it. Honestly a little better than I'd expected, even. Considering that even the cheapest "working" replicas cost nearly ten times as much as the Denix, it seriously can not be beat, especially for a rifle that is really just going to be a display piece anyway. I set it side-by-side with my original Springfield trapdoor and my 1907 L.C. Smith double-barrel shotgun, and it's hard to tell what's "real" and what is a non-firing replica. Replica Weaponry has the best prices around on these guns, too - totally a smooth transaction and a great product.

This is an excellent replica of the 1859 Sharps Rifle, a perfect addition for any Civil War enthusiast. It has a very nice finish on the wood and the metal accents are very attractive and well done. The hammer cocks and the trigger works as does the lever action. Plus, the price is right. I highly recommend it.
