Brothels tokens are metallic discs similar to coins, minted mostly in brass or bronze. Most of the original pieces were used in French brothels from 1900 to 1920. Theses tokens and similar tokens were used in the saloons of the Old West. The customer would buy the token from a contact (often the bartender) and after services were rendered, he would give the girl the token plus whatever tip he deemed sufficient.
