This Classic Pirate Cutlass was a short bladed sword making it the rugged sort of sword that many pirates would have favored and used. The 26.5 inch short blade is forged of carbon steel making it quicker and easier to swing. The hand guard is a single piece of steel that flares out to over 4 inches. The 5.5 inches stained hardwood handle ensures a secure hold for when the sword is handled. Iconic in its overall shape, this Classic Pirate Cutlass makes for a fantastic pirate sword for any swashbuckler or sea-rogue.

Nice to look at, not to handle
This sword is remarkably well made for the price. Surprisingly so, in fact. The guard is incredibly robust and the overall fit of the hilt to the blade knocks everything in this price range out of the park. It bears a striking resemblance to some actual recovered pirate swords of the period, unlike many swords advertised as "pirate swords" that are either complete fantasy or from eras 50 years or more later. That being said, this sword is a wrist-breaker! It is very blade heavy, such that it is uncomfortable to swing with (imagine swinging a wood-cutting axe one handed and you'll get an idea). This would not normally be an issue with more ornamented blades, but this one is so plain that it doesn't lend itself to use as a decoration either. It's only real use is as a prop for costume or reenactment, If you had the tools and know-how to do some stock removal on the blade and increase the distal taper, then this might make a decent project.
