Looks Great But Mounting Screws Are Too Small
I purchased a set of these bullet hangers for my replica WWII M1928 Thompson Machine Gun. They look great and do the job, at least for now, but the screws are really tiny and way too short to go through drywall and into a stud. They do come with plastic wall anchors. So, if you aren't trying to hit a wall stud, they are okay. If you are mounting directly on a wooden wall, they should be fine. But personally, I would have liked to have at least one of the hangers screwed into a stud behind the drywall. The gun weighs over eight pounds, so I'm concerned the screws are not stout enough to do the job long term, especially with frequently taking the gun down and putting it back up. The bullets are spring loaded, meaning you pull them out away from the wall, place your gun onto the resting portion, and then let them snap back into place. This allows them to adjust to the thickness of whatever you are hanging on them. To remove the gun, you have to pull them out a little bit and then lift the gun out. Because of the spring's tension, I'm concerned that frequent use will cause too much stress on the screws. Time will tell. They should have designed these to have bigger mounting holes so they could accept a beefier and longer screw. I think they are a #4 screw which is really small. And they are only about 1/2" (12mm) long which doesn’t allow for enough length to bite into a stud behind drywall. Because of the undersized screws, I took off one star. Other than the size, they look pretty cool holding my Tommy gun.
