The battle-axe was the key weapon used by medieval leaders like King Harold. Battle-axes were used in fierce hand-to-hand fighting or could be hurled through the air at the enemy. Most battle axes were designed with broad cutting edges. A head or a limb could be cut off with one axe blow! Many axes could pierce armor and chain mail. This particular battle axe features a sinister and deadly design that made this a preferred weapon of the Scandinavian warrior of the 8th Century.
