Civil War Iron Mortar Mini Cannon
Nice Decor Accent or Gift
The 8-inch mortar was considered a "siege" weapon. Even though it weighed more 1,000 pounds, it was still light enough to be transported on a mortar wagon. This portability allowed the this cannon to be used with infantry maneuvers. Mortars often fired round shot that looked like bowling ball. The overall damage created by a mortar bombardment rarely did significant physical damage, but the effect of screeching shells and tremendous explosions was intense and often enough to drive enemies from their posts.
Any Civil War historian would appreciate this miniature cannon. In addition to being an interesting piece of decor, it can serve as a silent memorial for thousands of soldiers and their service.
